Jelly Shoes; love or hate?

Jelly Shoes; they seemed to have appeared from thin air. However, jelly shoes have been around for longer than some of us may have thought (including me at first. . . woops). My mother wore these shoes when she was around my age, so it seems like the trend may have passed on from one generation to the next!

There is a large difference between the shoes from the 1980s, and the shoes from now however. For example, they seemed to be made of a thinner kind of plastic, and were rather flat. Many also looked like ballet flats, but now there are many different types of styles of jelly shoes. Nowadays, many of these shoes seemed to be infused with a great big chunky heel at the back, giving them a more "stylish, yet edgy" kind of look.

However, I stuck to my girly girl style and went for the pink flat style (I only have size two feet so they're the childrens version. . .) which I adore. Baby pink is my favourite colour, so it was obvious that I would go for the shoes in this colour! Also, I wear a lot of pastel coloured items of clothing, so I felt that pairing these shoes with a pastel - coloured item would complete the look.

My main reason for buying these shoes though was for my summer holiday in Ibiza. They're so so so handy to wear on the beach and around the pool, as they can be washed easily if sand gets into them.

To conclude, these shoes are practical but will also make your feet look great; a very rare combination nowadays!

My Favourite New Blouse

Last week I saw the most beautiful blouse in River Island. When I saw the blouse for the first time, the blouse that was in a size 6 had a great big hole in the back of it (Boo!) so I visited a different River Island store and managed to find a better quality one c:

I'd been meaning to buy a new white blouse for quite some time now, and this one fits the bill perfectly. It fits really well, and is not too tight but not too baggy either. However, the neck line is quite low, so when I wear this blouse I usually wear a plain white vest top underneath. However, any colour top can be worn underneath this blouse.

As for pairing it with another item of clothing, the possibilities are endless. Here, I have paired this blouse up with a pair of my Miss Selfridge dogtooth leggings, but I prefer to pair it up with my maroon Topshop jeans, to give it more of a girly feel. Keeping with River Island, I also like to wear my black River Island blazer over the top of this blouse when the weather's chilly. However, there are all different kinds of combinations that you could have, like a leather skater skirt, or tucked into pastel denim shorts if the weather turns hot.

To sum things up, this River Island blouse is a true beauty, and can make any outfit lovely and girly.

Statement Necklaces

Statement jewellery has been in full swing since last spring/summer, and it looks like it's going to carry on this year too.

The main piece of statement jewellery that I personally love are necklaces. They're so versatile and there are so many different styles and colours, that it's hard not to find one that won't suit you. There are pretty flower ones that'll give your outfit a floral update, or (fake) metal ones to make the look a bit more grunge. Whichever one takes your fancy, it's guaranteed to make your outfit look even more fabulous than it already does!

This is a statement necklace that I recently purchased from Miss Selfridge. I've paired it up with a River Island blouse that I've had for a little while now. This blouse usually has a piece of black fabric that sits underneath the collar and does up like a bow tie, however I swapped the tailored look for a more glam and girly look. I wore this blouse with a pair of black skinny jeans, so I felt that that this necklace would add a nice splash of colour without looking too over the top.

I'm such a girly girl, so pink and cream are two of my favourite colours; so of course this is my ideal necklace! I also love the contrast of the silver in the middle with the golden chain.

This is just one of many ways to wear a statement necklace of course. . . the possibilities are endless!

New Spring Look

So recently, I purchased a couple of brand new items. When purchasing, I noticed that these two items would work very well together. .

These two items are a stripey dress from Miss Selfridge and a denim jacket from Topshop (the gold bow necklace is from Forever 21, and I thought it'd polish off the outfit nicely)

Recently, I've been wearing a lot of monochrome outfits, as I feel that it's a very stylish colour scheme at the moment. I love bodycon dresses, as I feel that they fit and suit me better than other styles of dresses. The dress sits just above the knee, which is a perfect length seen as I'm a petite girl. It can be dressed up with anything, as the colours of the stripes seem to match everything. It can be glammed up with a sparkly blazer and shoes, or dressed down like I've done so on the left. It's one of those dresses that you can do plenty of things with.

I also adore the denim jacket. The tiny rip on the top right of the jacket gives it a nice edgy look, without it looking like it's been ruined. It works well with everything (except other denim pieces!) and can make an outfit look casual if you're worried that the outfit looks too dressy. It has a lovely light denim colour as well, making it perfect for spring and cold summer nights.

I personally pieced this outfit together, as I love the contrast of the colours. The dress is perfect for a lovely spring day, but if it suddenly turns cold the denim jacket will warm you right up. I also love how it has a very 90s look, although denim jackets were a massive trend in the 80s. I've teamed this outfit up with a gold necklace as I feel that the neckline would be quite bare without it; plus gold chain necklaces are all the range now.

Summer Colours 2014; Neon VS Pastels

Summer will soon be here, but the main question is; will neon or pastels come out on top?

Neon colours have always been seen as the ultimate summer colours. Orange and yellow are traditionally the colours that are associated with being summer colours, and always grace the shelves of high street stores. Topshop Unique's show saw lots of yellow colours being showcased down the runway, including the likes of the ever so popular maxi - dress. PPQ also showcased yellow maxi dresses too. Could yellow maxi dresses come out on top this summer?

Pastels are usually associated with being winter colours. Winter 2014 saw plenty of pastel colours appearing on cropped jumpers and pencil skirts, with baby pink coming out on top. However, by the looks of it, pastels will continue to reign during the summer of 2014 also. Burberry showcased their latest Spring/Summer collection with the likes of pink and baby blue shirts tucked into pencil skirts.

Both seem to be quite popular down the runway, but will loud neon or girly pastels make it into the high street stores this summer? Only time will tell..

Skorts; possible summer trend?

Whilst out and about shopping the high street, I've noticed a lot of skorts popping up now and again.

"What is a skort?" you may wonder.

Well, it's a combination of a skirt and a pair of shorts; skirt at the front and shorts at the back.

To me they're a bit like hit and miss; you either love 'em or you loathe 'em. You may love the idea of a skort. When you sit down, you won't have to worry about accidentally flashing your knickers (woopsie). You can just sit down and get on merrily. Plus they're great ways to trick people if you're feeling a bit cheeky:

"Wow I love your skirt.. no your shorts.. no your skirt.. argghh!"

On the other hand, you may not like the idea of a skort. You may be a person that likes both to be separate, and for things to look relatively similar all of the way round on an item of clothing. You may just be a person who wants to be free of confusion (as indeed we all do at times).

If you do love the idea of a skort, they're available in most high street stores. From tartan ones, to plain black ones, there's a skort out there for you somewhere.

However, if you don't like the idea of a skort, more and more skirts and shorts are starting to creep up for summer time; hooray!

So, is the skort the one for you? Will it be a summer trend? Time will tell..

Winter Fashion Round-Up

So it may SEEM like winter may still be in full swing, but new fashions will always be coming in; regardless of what season it is. Here are a few of the things that have been in style for Winter 2014:

Tartan

Tartan was predicted to be a huge hit for the winter in the summer of 2013; and boy were those predictions correct. Rihanna's latest collection for River Island featured many tartan items, including a tartan turtle-neck cropped top. The piece of tartan that I own is a tartan mini skirt from Forever 21. I love to pair it with my chelsea boots, black tights and plain white blouse. I love all things girly, but I also love fashion, so by wearing a tartan mini skirt I'm taking what's fashionable and making it my own so that it fits in with my own style; which in itself feels like an achievement to me. Traditional red tartan hasn't just been in style. Blue and black tartan has made it's way onto our high street store shelves also, making the tartan impossibilities endless.

Pastel Jumpers

Pastels may seem like summer colours, but pastel jumpers were all the range this winter. Stores like Topshop featured pastel jumpers, and I should know as this winter I donned a baby pink cropped jumper from there. Pairing pastel jumpers with acid washed jeans and frilly socks is perfect, as it can make a nice contrast between winter clothing but with bright pastel colours. I reckon that pastels will continue to make their mark in the summer, although I doubt that they will be featured on jumpers..

Chelsea Boots

Chelsea boots were all the range in the 90s, and made an amazing comeback this year. Most days in the winter (When I didn't have to go to school of course) I wore my chelsea boots from Topshop. Chelsea boots work well with practically anything. Whether you want to wear a skater dress, or a simple pair of dark jeans, they can spice up any outfit whilst keeping your feet warm. A pretty thing to pair them with is a pair of frilly socks. Although the colour of the frilly socks may not be entirely noticeable, the frills will sit nicely on top of the boot and make the boots look a little bit more pretty or girly if you're worried they look too harsh (and they don't; trust me).

This winter featured some FANTASTIC pieces, but these were just a few of the main ones that I thought that I would feature c:
